Italian National Team is lucky to find the perfect replacement of Gianluigi Buffon in the shape of Salvatore Sirigu, and that too in short span of time. Sirigu proved himself as the rightful heir-apparent of great Buffon. His perfect reflexes, strong mentality, composure, strength and amazing consistency make him one of the best goal-keepers in Italy.

Salvatore Sirigu was born on 12 January 1987 in Nuoro Italy. As a child he was very enthusiastic about football and started to play as a midfielder. In 2002, he joined the youth system of Palermo and changed his role to a goal keeper. The Italian footballer remained with Palermo club till 2011 and appeared in 69 games for the club. In 2011, French club PSG offered him a contract with for heavy transfer fee which he accepted joined the popular French club.

At national level he represented Italy U18, U19 and U21 Teams. In 2010, he made his international debut for Italy against Cameroon.
