Kieran Read is a professional rugby union player from New Zealand who plays as a flanker. He made his national team debut for New Zealand in 2008 and since then a permanent member of All Blacks. Due to his outstanding performance he won the award of IRB Player of the Year in 2013. Read is not only an expert flanker but he can also play as blind-side flanker.
Kieran James Read was born on 26 October 1985 in Papakura New Zealand. He developed his interest in the rugby when he was child and represented his school and college rugby teams. In his school he played all type of sports and won awards of “Sportsman of the Year” and “Sports All-Rounder of the Year”. Read was a very good cricketer and also selected for New Zealand U17 Cricket Team in 2002. Read was a batsman of outstanding capability and people believed that he will represent New Zealand Cricket Team but he had some other plans.
Kieran Read started to focus on rugby instead of cricket and started his professional club game for Canterbury in 2006. In 2007, he joined Crusaders in Super Rugby and impressed everyone with his performance. Due to his consistent performance in Super Rugby and provincial league he was selected for All Blacks in 2008. Read made his debut against Scotland on 8 November 2008. His success in the game earned him the award of “New Zealand Rugby Player of the Year” in 2010. Read also had honor to lead his national team in the absence of Richie McCaw in 2013. Overall Kieran Read is one of the finest players of rugby in the world.
