The young English Batsman started his county career from Leicestershire in 2008. Next year he scored more than 1000 runs and became the youngest player in Leicestershire’s history to score these runs in a single session. James Taylor is right-handed batsman who is just 5.6 feet tall. When he started to play cricket his height is often criticized as his weak point but he proved his critics wrong with his technique. Even when he made his Test Cricket debut against South Africa on 2 August 2012, his fellow players described his height a major drawback. Prolific English batsman Kevin Peterson said about Taylor that, “I have nothing against James but at 5.6 he is one of the shortest men currently playing county cricket”. James Taylor responded to such criticism with cool temper and with his impressive performance like he always done in his career.
James William Arthur Taylor was born on 6 January 1990 in Leicestershire, England. He was born in the house of “Steve” who was a National Hunt Jockey. James started to play cricket at an early age. He was criticized by many due to his height which is just 1 inch more than legendary Sachin Tendulkar. But James worked hard and converted his short height to his advantage by strengthening his hook shot and sweep shot. He made his first class career from Leicestershire in 2008 and joined Nottinghamshire in 2012. He also represented English U-19 Cricket Team and impressed everyone with his batting skills. He earned many awards which include “PCA Young Cricketer of the Year”, “CWC Young Cricketer of the Year”, “NBC Denis Compton Award” and “Young Wisden Schools Cricketer of the Year”.
James Taylor made his ODI debut against Ireland on 25 August 2011. So far he performed well in the One Day Cricket where he scored runs with consistency. In the recent series against Pakistan in UAE, he performed well and scored two half centuries in the series.
A Blossoming Career Unfortunately Cut Short
