Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone Movie
The first film of Harry Potter series was released in 2001 and also known by the title of “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone” in USA, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and India. Most popular film studio of the world, Warner Bros Pictures, bought the film rights to the book in 1999 for 1 million pounds. Initially names of Steven Spielberg and Rob Reiner came as director but finally Chris Columbus was selected as director. Daniel Redcliffe played role of Harry Potter along with Emma Watson and Rupert Grint.
When it was released in 2001 it made more than $980 million (total budget of this film was $125 million) at the worldwide box office. The film was also nominated and won major awards in the entertainment world. It is the 21st highest-grossing film of all times and the 2nd highest grossing movie in Harry Potter series (as of 2014).
