Muhammad Babar Azam is the young Pakistani Cricketer, who is considered as future superstar of Cricket Crazy Nation. Although he showed glimpses of talent from the very start of his career yet he stunned cricketing fans all over the world during 2016 ODI series against West Indies in UAE. Babar Azam scored his maiden One Day International Century in the first match of series and after that scored two more centuries in next two ODI’s which means he became only the third Pakistani Batsman in the history who scored three consecutive ODI centuries (other two are the great Zaheer Abbas and Saeed Anwar). In that memorable series he also made record for the most runs scored by any batsman in the three matches ODI series.
Babar Azam was born on 15 October 1994 in Lahore, Pakistan. He started to play cricket at an early age and he also has background of cricketing family. Babar Azam is the cousin of famous Kamran, Umar and Adnan Akmal, known as Akmal Brothers in Pakistan Cricket. Due to his shinning cricket he was selected to lead Pakistan Under-19 Cricket Team in 2012 Under-19 World Cup. Babar Azam proved his selection right as he became the leading runs scorer in the tournament.
Due to his consistent performances he was given ODI cap on 31 May 2015 at Lahore against visiting Zimbabwe. He again proved his selection right by scoring 54 runs in his first ODI. Next year he made T20I Debut against England at Manchester on 7 September 2016. Pakistan Cricket Team performed poorly in 2016 ODI series against hosts England but Babar Azam played well in all matches and showed his potential in difficult conditions.
Now after record-breaking ODI series against West Indies, he is selected for Test Matches against West Indies. Babar Azam loves to play proper cricketing shots and his cover drive is really a treat to watch. He also has ability to hit the ball hard for sixes. He has solid defensive technique, ability to rotate the strike which is crucial in the modern limited over cricket and he can also hit the ball out of the park which makes him a perfect package for all format of cricket. His role model in cricket is South African Cricketer AB De Villiers and he also wants to become a versatile cricketer like AB.
